The radiator used only on 2016 models has a special ozone-reducing coating (PremAir) and a sensor to evaluate the condition of the coating. This is the OE replacement radiator with the coating and the sensor. The sensor is not available separately. The 2017+ models did not have the sensor or coating. It's also possible that BMW removed the sensor requirement for 2016 models with a software update in 2018. If you have a fault code for the PremAir or EAC sensor don't assume that you need a new sensor or radiator. See your BMW dealer and they can likely update your software with a newer version that might fix the issue.

Buying a Genuine part will usually be more expensive than an OEM or aftermarket brand but you are assured that it meets BMW's designs for fitment, performance, and longevity. It will also be the very latest design, incorporating any updates or revisions that an aftermarket brand typically will ignore.
